Delhi Capitals have roped in the services of the South African pacer, Lizaad Williams into their squad for the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in place of Harry Brook who had earlier announced that he would not be part of the squad this season.

Williams has been brought into the side for the base price of INR 50 Lakhs. He made his debut in 2021 and has represented South Africa in all three formats. The pacer was also part of the squad that went through to the knockouts of the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023.

He was part of the Joburg Super Kings in the recent edition of the SA20 tournament where he picked up a total of 15 wickets in the nine games he had played.

In the international circuit, he has played a total of 11 games picking up 16 wickets in the T20I format as well. His most recent international appearance came against India where he was part of the white-ball setup. He will join his fellow international team-mate Anrich Nortje to boost the struggling bowling attack.

DC has had a poor start despite the skipper Rishabh Pant returning to the side following a long spell of absence due to injury. The side has not been able to get going either with the bat nor the ball.

The absence of Kuldeep Yadav has hit the squad hard with the side not having a solid wicket-taking option in the middle overs. The lack of form from their key pacer, Anrich Nortje who is also returning after a long spell out of action due to injury has also affected them.

The side suffered a tough loss to Mumbai Indians in their most recent fixture which took place at the Wankhede Stadium. The visitors suffered a loss by 29 runs to give MI their first points of the season and send DC down to the bottom of the points table.
