Rajasthan Royals cruised to a third consecutive win in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with a six-wicket hammering of Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult shared 6 wickets among each other to suffocate Mumbai Indians with the bat, restricting them to 125/9. In the second innings, Riyan Parag scored a match-winning 54 off 39 deliveries as the Royals reached 127/4 from 15.3 overs, winning with 27 balls to spare.

With the third win on the trot, Rajasthan Royals consolidated their spot on the top of the points table, displacing Kolkata Knight Riders with 6 points and a Net Run Rate of +1.249. The Shreyas Iyer-led KKR are now standing second with 2 points and an NRR of +1.047.

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings, who lost to Delhi Capitals on Sunday in Vizag, slipped to third with 4 points and an NRR of +0.976. Gujarat Titans (4 points, NRR -0.738) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (2 Points and NRR +0.204) are placed 4th and 5th, respectively.

Orange Cap

Uncapped Riyan Parag continued to make giant strides this season with a knock that reflected his maturity and aggression. His 54 unbeaten was studded with five fours and three sixes and he went on to grab the Orange Cap, scoring 181 runs and averaging better than Virat Kohli.

The former RCB captain is now second on the list with as many runs and an average of 90.50. SRH wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen stands third on the list with 167 in three matches while Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan (137) and DC opener David Warner (137) are placed 4th and 5th, respectively.

Purple Cap

Yuzvendra Chahal’s 3-wicket haul took him to the second spot on the list of the highest wicket-takers this season. CSK seamer Mustafizr Rahman stands atop the Purple Cap rankings as he extended his wicket tally in the season to 7.

Boult, who ran through the MI top-order right at the beginning of the play, no stands fifth with 5 wickets in three games. He dethroned KKR’s Harshit Rana who is now 6th with as many wickets but a higher economy rate than the Kiwi pacer.

GT’s Mohit Sharma comes in third with 6 wickets to his name following his three-wicket haul against SRH earlier in the day. DC pacer Khalil Ahmed, who dismissed CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravichandra is fourth on the list with 5 wickets.
