AC Milan ultras are planning to throw fake bank notes at Gianluigi Donnarumma on Tuesday night, when they come up against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Donnarumma, who joined the Rossoneri aged 14, made over 250 appearances for AC Milan in all competitions.
He was seen by many as their past, present and future after coming through the youth ranks but when he refused to sign a new deal worth £130,000-a-week, his legacy was somewhat tarnished.
The 24-year-old would eventually run down his contract before joining Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, meaning his boyhood club failed to receive a single penny in the process.
Donnarumma, who is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football, will now come up against his former club in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Italy international was always going to receive a hostile reception on his much-anticipated return to the San Siro.
And according to widespread reports in Italy, AC Milan’s ultras will hurl fake bank notes at Donnarumma to highlight his so-called betrayal.
In addition to the notes containing the words “Mercenary”, “Man without honour” and “Dollarumma”, some Rossoneri fans will wear t-shirts with the No.71.
The number is said to mean “man with no values” in Neapolitan tradition.
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique discussed the return of Donnarumma in his pre-match press conference, and insisted he will “overcome the situation” and stay focused.
“We worked more than talked,” Enrique said. “Gigio has already played with the national team here. It’s part of football, in history we have seen many players who have gone through it.
“He’ll be able to overcome the situation and stay focused on the game. This happens to great champions when they decide to start another stage in another team.

He added: “It will be different and unique for him but we will try to do our job as we do every time. It will be a beautiful situation and we will try to use this environment to play good football.”
