An official who Jose Mourinho threatened with legal action after sending the Roma manager off during a game has been sacked by Serie A.

To say that Mourinho doesn’t always get along with referees might be a bit of an understatement, as Englishman Anthony Taylor can certainly confirm.

It wasn’t the first time last season that the former Manchester United boss had been unhappy with the man in the middle, or those on the edge of the pitch.

Mourinho was so perturbed by the incident that he claimed he was going to start legal proceedings against assistant referee Marco Serra, who called the ref over that day to get the Roma boss sent off.

According to Sky Italia, Serra has not been included in the list of referees in Serie A for next season having been sacked for ‘justified technical reasons.’

The only man to have won the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League was not happy with whatever Serra had said to him.

It was not confirmed at any point but reports in Italy claimed that the official had been asked by the manager about a decision and the official answered: “mind your own f**king business.”

However Serra denied any wrongdoing saying: “I haven’t said anything that could offend Mourinho. I didn’t say those words. At that moment, I said something else.

“I said, you’re making the stadium turn against you. Go to the area, go to the area [in the stand].”

Speaking at the time about legal action, Mourinho said: “I need to understand if I can take any legal action. [Referee Marco] Piccinini gave me a red card, because unfortunately the fourth official does not have the capacity to understand what he said to me.

“For the first time in my career, a fourth official spoke to me in the most incredible way. It was unjustifiable.”
