Man Utd arrange meeting to ‘seduce’ defender into transfer that would meet his criteria

Manchester United are ready to meet with the representatives of Milan Skriniar to lure him into a transfer to the club, according to a report.

Skriniar will be out of contract with Inter Milan at the end of the season. The chance to sign a player of his pedigree for free is appealing to many elite clubs across Europe. Most of the Premier League’s top sides have been looking at him, per reports.

One of the most likely to act on their interest could be Man Utd. According to Media Foot, Erik ten Hag’s team “want to try their luck” by making a move for Skriniar.

In fact, they have supposedly scheduled a meeting with the Slovakia international’s representatives. After all, they are allowed to negotiate now he is into the final six months of his contract. Hence, they are eager to determine if they would be able to accommodate his requests.

Financially, they should have little problem. What’s more, they are a club with an illustrious history and, so it seems, an enticing project for the future under Ten Hag.

With that in mind, there is a feeling that United can “seduce” Skriniar into joining them.

Ten Hag would then have to work out how to keep his best defenders happy. He can already call upon a reliable partnership of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

But the chance to sign someone like Skriniar for free doesn’t come around very often. Besides, he could easily come back to haunt them if he was to sign for a direct rival in the event of them not acting on their interest.

Therefore, Man Utd are seemingly a side to be taken seriously in the battle for Skriniar’s signature.

The report reminds that French champions Paris Saint-Germain remain particularly keen on Skriniar. What’s more, Inter have not given up hope of extending his contract.

Milan Skriniar future all to play for

However, while acknowledging that hope, a separate report from 90min indicates Inter expect to receive bids for the centre-back this month.

For example, PSG could bring their interest in Skriniar forward if Sergio Ramos leaves following links with the same Al Nassr side Cristiano Ronaldo has joined.

It is also claimed that Liverpool could make a move after seeing Virgil van Dijk ruled out for a number of weeks through injury.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle could also be putting together contract offers for Skriniar.

Interestingly, Media Foot had claimed that he is “eyeing the Premier League”, which means Man Utd or their rivals could have an advantage over PSG.

But it could all come down to who bids in January rather than waiting until the summer. According to 90min, Inter will think about selling Skriniar if he doesn’t renew his contract.

And in turn, they could keep some of their other in-demand players, like Denzel Dumfries.

Therefore, although Man Utd seem to be testing the waters for a summer arrangement, they might end up having to come up with an offer to Inter if they don’t want to miss out to a different suitor.

There are evidently a few factors for Man Utd to consider when it comes to pursuing Skriniar. But he is a strong defender who is in the prime of his career and could be ready for his first taste of Premier League football.

In that case, he is someone they will be eager not to miss out on.
