Manchester United are scouting a box-to-box Serie A midfielder who is also on Tottenham’s radar, while Chelsea have reignited their interest in landing a Barcelona attacking star – all in Thursday’s Euro transfer gossip.
PREM PAIR CHASING SERIE A MIDFIELDER
Manchester United and Tottenham are reportedly scouting Sassuolo star Davide Frattesi, with a view to bringing the midfielder to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old has been a real standout for the Serie A side this season, scoring four goals so far across all competitions.
Frattesi has also forced his way into Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad but will not be at the World Cup after their failure to qualify.
The report from Il Resto del Carlino states that United are looking at Frattesi as an upgrade on Scott McTominay and Fred and another strong squad option for Erik ten Hag.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are currently pulling the strings in United’s engine room. However, with both players aged 30, Ten Hag wants some younger talent he can call upon.
Tottenham also in mix for Sassuolo man
As for Spurs’ interest, Conte wants more competition for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur, given that Yves Bissouma has so far proved a disappointment.
Frattesi is a box-to-box midfielder, similar to Bentancur in many ways, and was linked to Tottenham back in September.
It now just remains to be seen who will be the highest bidder for a player who is valued at £19million on Transfermarkt.
However, Sassuolo are almost certain to demand more than that – especially if more than two clubs show an interest in the player to drive up his price.
