Antonio Cassano has brutally slammed Jose Mourinho for his “shameful” behaviour towards Rick Karsdorp after claiming the Roma player ‘betrayed’ him.
Speaking after the draw, Mourinho told DAZN: “It was a team that wanted to win against a tough opponent, I am sorry that the efforts of the team were betrayed by the attitude of one unprofessional player.
“An unprofessional attitude that is not fair to his teammates, that is what disappoints me. A point away from home is still not a negative result and I am happy with the general attitude of my squad.”
Mourinho pulled no punches towards the “unprofessional” Roma player in question, with the Special One calling for him to leave in the January transfer window.
“I won’t tell you. I had 16 players on the field tonight and I liked the attitude of 15 of them. In January, he needs to find himself another club,” he said.
Karsdorp, who is under contract until 2025, has made 11 appearances for Roma this season and has been linked with Juventus amid uncertainty surrounding his future.
Cassano has now hit out at Mourinho and says his treatment towards the 27-year-old Roma right-back has been “ignoble.”
Speaking on Italian TV 90º minuto (via Marca), he said: “Mourinho only has to do one thing, talk about what the team is doing.
“He never says what doesn’t make the team play well, it’s always someone else’s fault.
“He’s a coach and he’s been doing nothing for a year and a half. What Mourinho did in the ‘Karsdorp case’ is ignoble, shameful.
“You can’t say such appalling things about a guy who now can’t even go out for breakfast.
“You have to talk to the players and that’s it. He always blames others instead of thinking about his own game.”
