Euro Paper Talk: Ronaldo replacement found in Brazil forward with fee set to tempt Man Utd; West Ham closing on shock deal for Barcelona icon

Manchester United are considering a move to sign a 39-goal Brazil striker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, West Ham are nearing a surprise deal for a big-name Barcelona star, while Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Tottenham are blitzing their way to the front of the queue to sign an explosive striker.

MATHEUS CUNHA TRANSFER OPTION FOR MAN UTD

Atletico Madrid are ready to sell Matheus Cunha in January – and the player is dreaming of a move to Manchester United, per reports.

United are scouring the globe for a new striker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who has surely played his last game for the club. The veteran Portuguese star has released an explosive interview with Piers Morgan which widely condemns Eric ten Hag and Manchester United. As such, the player has burned his bridges with the Red Devils and will not play for them again.

His January exit – with United preparing to tear up his contract – will leave Ten Hag and Co, though with a big hole to fill.

As such, the Red Devils were linked with a move for a free-scoring African star in Monday’s Euro Paper Talk.

However, any deal for that player will have to wait for the summer. And it’s clear that United need a fix here and now.

As such, the ideal opportunity looks set to present itself in Cunha.

The eight-times capped Brazil striker is available for transfer at Atletico Madrid after a disappointing spell.

Matheus Cunha dreaming of Man Utd move

They paid £22.6m (€26m) to sign him from Hertha Berlin in summer 2021 and he went on to score seven goals in 37 appearances last season.

However, he’s now without a goal in 17 games this season and Atletico Madrid are ready to cash in.

United were linked with a move for Cunha over the summer but were dissuaded by Atletico’s demand to only sell for his exit clause. Per Marca, that is set at £52.6m (€60m)

Now, Tuesday’s print edition of Marca claims Cunha and Atletico are clearing the path for his sale by seeking a reduced fee. And while that is not revealed, there are reports he could be allowed to leave for just £30.7m (€35m).

The 23-year-old has slipped to fifth in their pecking order and reportedly fancies a move to Old Trafford to revive his career.

Cunha’s close friend Antony also plays for United and the former has reportedly been keeping in close contact with his pal since the move.
