England fans think it’s time for Gareth Southgate to go following Friday’s 1-0 defeat to Italy in the Nations League.

Giacomo Raspadori’s second half effort was enough to condemn England to League B relegation and a third defeat of 2022.

The Three Lions are winless in their last five matches and that’s their worst run since June 2014.

Southgate approached the away end to thank them for their support at full-time and he was booed by those inside the San Siro.

England face Germany on Monday, which will be their final game before the World Cup starts in November.

One person commented: “A clueless manager being allowed to waste another golden generation.”

Another said: “So many creative technical players and Southgate is trying to play this utter s**t brand of dullball.”

A third tweeted: “I saw someone say England under Southgate is like a fast car in traffic and honestly I think there isn’t a better way to describe them than that.”

While someone put: “He’s taken us as far as he can, it’s quite obvious.”

Southgate signed a contract last November which runs until 2024.

He helped England reach the World Cup semi-finals in 2018 and the Euro 2020 final.

Back in June, he declared: “I won’t outstay my welcome. I am always going to have situations where people are going to disagree with the selection.

“We’ve done a good job for the team. We’ll continue to improve the team and we’re also developing young players that will leave England in a good place for a long period.”

England are in Group B at the World Cup, alongside Iran, the United States and Wales.

Their first game is against Iran on November 21.
